The Red Billed Gull is a native to New Zealand and a regular site on our shores.
We will all be familiar with them steeling chips or sandwich crumbs from our beach holidays. They form lasting breeding pairs.
The Red Billed Gull is now classified as "nationally vulnerable" with current population numbers thought to be fewer than 100,000. Numbers are expected to drop by a further 50 - 70 percent over the next 30 years.
